Year-end Awards and Points

 

YEAR-END AWARDS

 

·         To qualify for year-end awards you must participate in four (4) club sponsored meetings and at least one (1) club sponsored organized ride (helping or riding) or show (helping or showing).

·         Horses must be ApHC registered to earn points. 

·         Current GEAHC membership is required to be awarded GEAHC Year End Awards

·         In order to receive an award all debts owed to any club must be paid in full.  Suspended members of ApHC or GEAHC may not earn awards.

·         Any advertised open, breed or schooling show that keeps records and gives points and/or ribbons or day awards are approved shows Year end points will be given in each class where there was participation supported by any member of GEAHC.

·         Show Points are gathered by showing at approved open, schooling or breed shows throughout the show season, Jan 1st to Dec. 20. 

·         Point Sheets must be turned in monthly to be counted for awards.  Points turned in after 1 month has passed will not be counted. 

·         Points will be awarded for Saddle Log Hours and Distance Riding.

·         There must be a minimum of three (3)  separate Saddle Log rides, Distance Event logs or Point Sheets submitted per horse/rider  per category for an award to be given in that category.

·         Awards will be given at an Awards Ceremony after the first of the calendar year organized by the Points Chair and committee.  Typically at the January Club Meeting. 

·         If you win year end awards and cannot attend the awards banquet you must make arrangements or pay to have them sent to you.

 

Awards Categories

 

Categories may be added by bringing a request for a vote to any board meeting before April 1st each year.   Earnings will be the basis for points in the following categories:  Cutting, Reining, Racing and Jackpot Timed Speed Events (Barrels and Poles).  Futurities and money classes will be awarded points based on the number of exhibitors and amounts earned. Awards will be given the following areas:

 

v    DISTANCE HORSE/RIDER

One horse/rider combo with the most miles logged in sanctioned distance events.  Non-sanctioned distance events may be counted under the Saddle Log program (below).

 

v    SADDLE LOG HORSE/RIDER

One horse/rider combo with the most time logged in the saddle.  Horse trainers are excluded from participation in the Saddle Log Awards Program.  Include time spent on trail rides, arena exercises, practicing for events, parades, trail maintenance, BCHC, etc.  Any time you are on your horse counts except participation in horse shows or events (below) where you are counting points earned for awards.  Does not include Distance Riding Events or time in saddle during participation in Distance Events.

  • ALL 13 & under classes except Leadline which is awarded separately.

HIGH POINT YOUTH 14-19

·         Total points in all Classes and Divisions per exhibitor 14-19

 

HIGH POINT ADULT EXHIBITOR 20 -44

·         Total points in all Classes and Divisions per exhibitor 20 & OVER

 

HIGH POINT ADULT EXHIBITOR 45 & Over

·         Total points in all Classes and Divisions per exhibitor 45 & Over

 

HIGH POINT HALTER HORSE

·         Includes all Halter Classes and Age Divisions -Includes Most Colorful

·         Points for Grand & Reserve Champion at Halter will count as follows:

Grand Champion = 2 points

Reserve Champion = 1 point

 

HIGH POINT FOUNDATION PEDIGREE DESIGNATED  HORSE 

·         Appaloosas only with FPD stamped on papers. 

·         Points can be earned by competing in regular classes where a separate FPD class is not offered.

·         Placings will be calculated separately and count for FPD Awards.

·         Includes all Halter and Riding Classes and Age Divisions

·         Grand and Reserve Halter counts points the same as above in Regular Halter

 

HIGH POINT WESTERN RIDING HORSE

·         Includes All Western Riding Classes and Divisions

 

HIGH POINT TRAIL

·         Includes any type Trail Class and Division

·         Includes In-Hand Trail

 

HIGH POINT HERITAGE

·         All Ages, Classes and Divisions

 

HIGH POINT REINING

·         Includes all Reining Classes and Divisions

 

HIGH POINT CATTLE HORSE

·         Includes All Cattle Classes and Divisions. 

·         Includes any class where cattle are required to perform – Roping, team penning, sorting, etc. 

 

HIGH POINT ENGLISH HORSE

·         Includes all English Riding or In Hand Classes and Divisions

 

 

HIGH POINT GAMES HORSE

·         Includes all Ages, Classes and Divisions 

·         Appaloosa Games Horse Association

·         California Gymkhana Association

·         National Barrel Horse Association

·         High School Rodeo Association

·         Rodeo timed Barrel Races

·         Excludes:   Play day type events i.e.:  egg & spoon race, etc.

 

 

v    OTHER SPECIAL AWARDS

SUPER HORSE VERSATILITY AWARD 

·         1 Horse – 1 Rider

·         Must compete in ALL 5 categories listed under World’s Best Appaloosa (Rule 1000) in the ApHC Rule Book

·         Points will be calculated per Rule 1000

·         Must have at least 1 point in each required category.

·         Only the 2 highest scores in each category will count towards the award.

 

HIGH POINT OVER ALL - To be calculated by Awards Committee

·         INCLUDES ALL THE ABOVE CLASSES AND DIVISIONS, SADDLE LOG AND DISTANCE FOR SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR ONE APPALOOSA HORSE

 

PRESIDENT’S AWARD

·         Given to the member deemed most valuable by the Club President as the occasion arises.

 

BREEDERS AWARD

·         Contribution to the breed to be determined by submitted applications selected by awards committee.  Deadline to submit:   November meeting.
